Story - Act of Mirrors (collab work with Lauren B. Harris and Rosemary Tizledoun)
In a world
where only the wealthiest have access to the best schools and limited
technology, the dark and gang-filled underside of the capital city has
become a haven for acting houses that
serve as both great entertainment and housing for the great gangs that battle
in the city's interior.
Longing
for excitement and something to break the dull pace of normal life, many
of the noble youth have taken up the masks of a second identity in the playhouses where
acting is not suspect, rather it is
required.
Against
this backdrop a decade old-rivalry between the two masters of the great playhouses
and the beautiful woman they both loved sweeps the unsuspecting boys into it's
tumultuous current, leaving all to wonder what the last act will bring. Can both playhouses survive the final scene,
or was the script for tragedy written long ago?

Character - Cassiel
Long ago,
Atlantis was the city of the sky, greatest of all man's achievements. Their great pride and arrogance angered
forces beyond their control and the great city was cast from the air,
sentenced to an eternity far beneath the waves of the deepest ocean. The curse was linked with the blood of kings, for as long as they lived the city would be cursed and when the bloodline died
out the protections saving the city from the crushing ocean would die with
them. The youngest son of a
long line of Atlantian kings, Cassiel never meant to be king himself. His whole life he has given to understanding the curse, studying it and all the magic that surrounds it. He dreams of one day seeing the legend of
Land and Air, though the best scholars claim that it no longer exists. As the ailing king begins to fade, Cassiel's
older brother, the heir apparent, disappears.
He has forsaken his duty and all his responsibilities, condemning their
society to death. Angry and bitter,
Cassiel throws himself into the search for a way to break the curse, resulting in a magical attempt to leave Atlantis that he fears will kill
him. Waking on land, he tries to adapt to
life on solid ground He takes a new name and makes himself a contender for the empty human throne, left behind by a king with no heirs and too many
suspicions. In his quest to find his
home and break the curse in his blood, Cassiel must now reconcile his
responsibilities to two very different lands, and the people that rely on him
in both.

From far
beyond any space we know, two great alien races have battled between the stars
since before our earth had cooled enough for the dinosaurs to rise. The
fiercely proud and militaristic Escher and the equally violent and
bright-burning Angelos have been locked in battle after battle, waiting for the
day when a power that could tilt the balance would appear.
From the
moment when the skies begin to clear and water rises in the Earthling oceans,
both of the great races sense a strange and silent power in the small planet,
usually beneath their notice. As the
millenia pass, the Earth and its small corner of the universe are left in
peace, an unspoken no-man's-land to be touched by nothing. Despite the ancient pacts each race
watches the planet secretly, waiting.
Finally a
human girl is born, her spirit at odds with the mundane world around her. Estranged by family and friends, she grows up
lonely and distant. Frustrated and unable to deal with her self-destructive tendencies, her family sends her to a boarding school for troubled girls. Depressed, suicidal, and
confused, she is unaware of the ambassadors
from beyond the stars that secretly observe her. Still unsure of what she means for their futures, or what role
she could possibly play, they watch in silence.
Breaking the
rules that stipulate he remain unknown, the young Escher that watches her
reveals himself, his own darkness pulling her along as together they begin to fall into the shadows of his madness. Unable to
start a war on Earth, the outcast Angelos that also watches possesses no way to
counteract the dark alien's influence, fighting a losing battle until a young
half-angelos half human boy enters the picture. Still unaware of his heritage, beautiful pain echos in the music he sings. The light that fights through his confusion draws the young girl as inevitably
as the darkness of the Escher, and torn between them she leads all three of them in a terrifying spiral towards
their fate as their Angelos watcher finds himself trying to protect them
all.
To save
both her world and theirs, Lillian must overcome her own weaknesses and the
temptations of her companions' flaws to find her true power, purifying them all
and creating the greatest powers the universe will have ever seen.
